This second step of the programme is all about adding diversity back into your diet and challenging some of the foods you have been avoiding. Too often people eat the same foods day after day (especially if you have restricted your diet because of your digestive symptoms) but this could impact on your gut health even more in the future as your gut bacteria need variety to keep the balance.
Have you ended up with a bland and restricted diet to avoid your digestive issues flaring up?
How can you fit in 7 portions of vegetables a day? I struggle to eat the recommended 5!
Easy when you know how! The key is to include something at every meal and snack so that you don’t get to the end of the day realising you’ve not eaten any!
I do eat the same foods day after day as I know they don’t cause me issues – I’m worried my symptoms will get worse the more different foods I eat?
I’m here every step of the way to help you. First we take lots out, then we add back in bit by bit and eventually we get to a tailored plan especially for you that means you can eat a good, diverse range of foods (to ensure good gut health) but that will not cause your symptoms to flare up.
I’m worried about eating fibre – this usually makes my symptoms worse?
It’s all about finding the right fibre for you and making sure you have a mix of soluble and insoluble fibre – check out my blog on this…
