My Story

My passion for gut health began with my own experience.

Nicola Russell, registered nutritional therapist

In my twenties, a combination of frequent antibiotics (they gave these out like sweets in the 70s!), poor diet, smoking, stress and a bout of food poisoning left me struggling with persistent bloating, wind and constipation. My symptoms became so severe that people would offer me their seat on the Tube because they thought I was pregnant. Not quite the look I was going for at 22…

After numerous tests, I was told I had IBS and would simply have to “learn to live with it”. I wasn’t prepared to keep looking pregnant until I actually was, so I spent years (and a lot of money) trying different therapies in search of lasting relief.

Everything changed when I met a Nutritional Therapist. For the first time, someone looked at my whole health history rather than just my symptoms. Through personalised nutrition, targeted supplements and a comprehensive stool test, we uncovered the likely causes of my digestive issues and gradually restored my gut health.

Within months, the bloating that had affected my confidence for years had almost disappeared.

I know the foods that don’t agree with me (mainly gluten and dairy), but I still enjoy the occasional latte and croissant because life is for living!

If you’ve been told everything is “normal” but you know you don’t feel your best, I really do get it.

That experience inspired me to retrain as a Nutritional Therapist so I could help other people who had also been told to “just live with it”.

For more than a decade, I’ve supported hundreds of people with their digestive health. But over the years, my approach has evolved.

Because I’ve come to realise that gut health is about so much more than digestion.

Your gut microbiome interacts with your immune system, metabolism, hormones, brain and inflammatory pathways. And increasingly, we’re understanding how important these systems are to how we age and how well we live in later life.

This is where gut health and longevity meet.

Looking after your gut isn’t about chasing perfect digestion or following a restrictive diet. It’s about creating the foundations for better health now and supporting your body for the years ahead.

My goal is to help you feel better today while investing in your future health.

Because longevity isn’t simply about living longer. It’s about maintaining your energy, strength, resilience and quality of life for as long as possible.

And I believe healthy ageing starts in the gut.
